    Who We Are

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 200,000 individual members, the Society's mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most essential and comprehensive resources available. As an influential voice, the Society's mission is also to advance the human resource profession to ensure that HR is recognized as an essential partner in developing and executing organizational strategy. Founded in 1948, SHRM currently has more than 550 affiliated chapters and members in more than 100 countries.

    History

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), formerly called the American Society for Personnel Administration (ASPA), was founded in 1948 by a group of just 28 individuals who anticipated the need for a national personnel organization. The goal in founding ASPA was to provide continued professional development opportunities for what the founding members recognized as a profession in transition, promote national networking, and to generally advance the interests of the profession.

    Our Mission

The SHRM Wyoming State Council was formed in 1986 and is committed to advancing the human resource profession and the capabilities of all human resource professionals by promoting SHRM and providing structure, leadership training, and educational opportunities for SHRM chapters and at-large members in the State of Wyoming.

    Kate Selby Memorial Scholarship

The SHRM-Wyoming State Council established the Kate Selby Memorial Scholarship in 2017 to help a government employee with membership dues to the Society of Human Resource Management.  This scholarship is named for Kate Selby, who passed away in 2016.  Kate was dedicated to the human resources profession, ensuring diversity in employment and a Grievance and Appeals Coordinator for the State of Wyoming, Human Resources Division.  The Scholarship is awarded at the state conference each September without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
