    Who We Are

    The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 300,000 individual members, the Society's mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most essential and comprehensive resources available. As an influential voice, the Society's mission is also to advance the human resource profession to ensure that HR is recognized as an essential partner in developing and executing organizational strategy. Founded in 1948, SHRM currently has more than 550 affiliated chapters and members in more than 100 countries.

    Our Mission

    The SHRM Wyoming State Council was formed in 1986 and is committed to advancing the human resource profession and the capabilities of all human resource professionals by promoting SHRM and providing structure, leadership training, and educational opportunities for SHRM chapters and at-large members in the State of Wyoming.

    Wyoming SHRM Chapters

    The State of Wyoming is lucky to have five (5) chapters that provide education and networking to its members.  These chapters are located in Casper, Cheyenne, Gillette, Rock Springs and Sheridan.  For more information on how to join a  local chapter, check out the information located under the LOCAL CHAPTERS TAB above.

    Public Sector Excellence Award

    The Wyoming State Council of SHRM established the Kate Selby Memorial Scholarship, now called the Public Sector Excellence Award, in 2017 to assist a human resource professional with membership dues to the Society of Human Resource Management.  This scholarship is named for Kate Selby, who passed away in 2016.  Kate was a Grievance and Appeals Coordinator for the State of Wyoming, Human Resources Division, and was dedicated to the human resources profession, ensuring diversity in employment. She was a member and past president of the Wyoming State SHRM Council.

    The Kate Selby Memorial Scholarship is awarded at the Wyoming state conference each September without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.

    Wyoming SHRM Annual Conference

    Each September, HR Professionals have the opportunity to network and hear from subject matter experts on a variety of topics.   The 2023 conference will be in Cheyenne.
